Milos is the fifth largest island in the Cyclades, 86 miles from Piraeus. It covers 158 square kilometres, has a coastline 125 kilometres in length and approximately 5,000 permanent residents.

Places worth visiting:

  • Adamanta : the main harbour on Milos with traditional architecture and quaint narrow streets, the centre of the island’s nightlife.
  • Plaka, present-day capital, with its imposing 13th-century Venetian Castle, where you can enjoy the idyllic sunset.
  • The picturesque fishing village of Pollonia where you can board small boats and sea taxis for a trip to Kimolos or Poliego.
  • The village of Klima, with its multi-coloured two-storey houses built in the natural cavities of the rocks. On the ground floor, the so-called “sirma”, the fishing boats were kept, while the family lived on the upper floor.
  • The traditional settlements of Firopotamo, Mantrakia, Empoureio and Fourkovouni.
  • The catacombs in the area of Tripiti.

The Magical Beaches of Milos:

Due to its volcanic origin, Milos has impressive ground formations and a variety of beaches. The island’s 75 beaches, both large and small, are sure to thrill you.

Just as an example:

  • Agia Kyriaki : You will be amazed at its cool waters, coloured pebbles and long sandy beach.
  • Kleftiko : Accessible only by boat, with crystal blue waters and unique rock formations.
  • Paliohori : with coloured pebbles, course sand and cool, deep, crystal-clear waters.
  • Papafrangas :  a deep sea cave, where you can swim in green-blue waters between white rocks to the open sea.
  • Plathiena : A beach with fine, white sand and a view of Akradies, Arkoudes and Mantrakia.
  • Provatas : a vast golden-red sandy beach (due to iron oxides) with shallow waters.
  • Sarakiniko : The most famous beach on the island, due to its unique lunar landscape.
  • Sikia: A cave of unique natural beauty, accessible only from the sea.
  • Tourkothalassa : A sheltered sandy beach, pebbles and blue waters.
  • Tsingrado : Beach surrounded by huge rocks, with white sand and emerald waters.
